What A Day

We started in Melide today with a quick breakfast of toast and coffee and OJ. There was sun and clouds at the start and the first 4 miles went smoothly. Walking thru Melide we saw a wonderful church and stopped for a prayer. The next 4 miles were uneventful until it started to sprinkle. Then we put on our ponchos and continued waking. We came upon a village that had an old church that was open so we stopped to get a stamp. While inside the rain picked up and the lightning started with a short power outage. We decided to add our rain pants as well because it was pouring down at this point. We braved the elements and continued our walk in heavy rain. The water cascaded down the trail and we quickly got very wet - especially our feet. After another 3 miles we stopped at a cafe with a large tent to take a break. We changed socks and decided to take a half hour to relax. The rain slowed down and just before we left the rain stopped and blue sky came out. We slowly put away our rain gear over the last 4 miles and finished on beautiful weather. We have all our wet gear out drying in our porch - hopefully by tomorrow they won’t be soaking. Dinner tonight was great with salad and soup and beef meat with potatoes. Dessert was cheese with jelly. Weather tomorrow may be rain but we just won’t know.

  1. Rain rain go away!! That’s quite a downpour. Just catching up on your last few posts and can’t wait to hear about the stories you’ve collected along the walk from other pilgrims.
Oh yes-the apple pie looked delicious!
