Windy Day On the Plain of the Meseta
Today was an 11 mile walk on the Roman road dating back 2000 years. The morning was cool and cloudy and once we got outside the town the wind began to have howl. We spent the entire walk in winds from 15 to 30 mph. The wind was mainly straight into us so it was like fighting a monster all day. Our hats became sails and you kept your head down so your hat would not blow off. The road was basically straight and flat. You could look out across the plain and see the winds blowing across the fields making the crops bend and sway.
Near the end of the walk we kept looking out to see the town where we would finally be able to get out of the wind. We kept getting closer and closer but all saw was the road stretching ahead of us. Finally we topped a ridge and below us was a small village of maybe 50 people that would be our home for tonight. We were very glad to reach our hostal and finally get out of the wind!
