Lunch at Cafe Txoko

We are in the Plaza del Castillo eating lunch at Cafe Txoko - one of many restaurants advertising a Hemingway connection.  We had a chicken burger with fries - the food here has been amazing. We sat next to some Spaniards who wanted to talk to us about why we were in Pamplona. Once they understood we were walking the Camino they got excited about telling us how hard each segment would be.  Our poor Spanish and their poor English made for some fun but in the end we had a great conversation.

This morning we visited the Museo Navarro which had some wonderful artifacts dating back 30,000 years.  We got our first Pilgrim stamp at the Museo!

The wooden post Dianne is standing next to is used with the 'Running of the Bulls' in July.  They have squares built into the road where they place wooden posts with wooden cross ties to build a strong fence.  The Bulls are guided thru the streets running at top speed using the fences.  Young crazy people will jump in front of the running bulls and hopefully jump clear before they are trampled.

The Camino is getting very 'real' to us.  Tomorrow is our first day and we will be walking 14.8 miles to Puente La Reina.  We climb 1,000 feet which should be pretty easy - though the descent might actually be tougher.  Hopefully we get a good nights sleep.

We are doing our final packing this afternoon to put all the right things in our backpacks and our luggage.  Our two luggage bags are moved ahead by the Caminoways service and of course we carry our own day backpacks with just water and rain gear and some food.  Each luggage has to weigh less than 44 pounds and our backpacks are around 15 pounds each.

We are very excited to start our walk tomorrow.  When we step out of our hotel tomorrow morning the adventure becomes real!
