Another Great Day On the Camino


Last night we arrived in Los Argos and to our surprise we had a washer in the room.   We had planned on doing laundry in Logrono but instead decided to do it last night.  We did four small loads that went quickly and we hung everything in the room to dry - they don't have many dryers in Spain.  Little did we know that some of the articles ended up flying out the window.  This morning when we were leaving we Thanked the manager saying how happy we were that we got our laundry done.  Suddenly he exclaimed in Spanish and pointed to two clothing items hanging in the lobby. Turns out one exercise top and one pair of underwear - both Dianne's - had fallen out the window and been retrieved in the square below and brought to the hotel lobby.  We were glad to get them back before we left Los Arcos!!

Great views today of ruins, villages and vines. Definitely not boring like yesterday. Even bought a Diet Coke from a man who had set up a mini store in the middle of nowhere.

The food in each village we've stopped or stayed in has been wonderful. In fact we are waiting to go to dinner. They eat so late here, 8pm.

Camino 2023

Dianne and I have scheduled our next Camino walk for April and May 2023. We have chosen the Portugese route starting in Lisbon, Portugal and finishing in Santiago, Spain. We will start our walk on April 15 and finish on May 30. The total distance will be roughly 400 miles and we have about 33 days when we will be actually walking. The walk is south to north so hopefully that helps with the weather since it will warm up over those 7 weeks. We are very excited and look forward to another experience which is both physical and spiritual.

Made It To Sarria

Today we traveled to Sarria which is the town you need to start at to get your Compostela in Santiago. You need to walk 100 Km and Sarria is just beyond that point. We started our walk in a small mountain town with a single street and many Pilgrims. Our walk went smoothly and had a short climb but then descended 1,500 feet to Sarria. Along the way we saw more cows being moved - they went right by us after we had finished our lunch. The trail was generally in good shape and moving forward we expect the trails to improve due to the higher traffic. Many of the trails were thru the woods with plenty of shade. The fog hung around till about 11 so kept things cooler. We are staying in a wonderful B&B up in the mountains built from a ancient building. The ceilings are original and so are the walls - we look out over the hillsides of hay. Very special. Tomorrow begins the final 6 days of walking into Santiago. We are very excited.
